New Year's Day is sad and sombre for the Dixon family. Barry is surprised when he wakes up next to a child. Patricia tells Margaret why she is so scared.

Fran plays her trump card, but how will Barry react? Mick comes home early and finds more babysitters than he expected. Ron is taken for a ride by a man on crutches. Max dashes to the hospital to be with Patricia.

Patricia tries to put on a brave face, but can't quite manage it. Barry doesn't want to remain in a weak position for long. Ron refuses to accept responsibility for losing Mike's keyboard. Barbara intends to make her presence felt at the school.

Julia and the Dixons go to Cyril's funeral. Just as Patricia prepares to go into hospital, Susannah arrives to offer her support, but it isn't altogether appreciated.

DD confides in Ron about what she has discovered, but he is not really interested. When Mike's allegation is confirmed, Julia is sacked. Patricia is to have an operation, but will Max be able to give her the support she needs?

Barry's attraction to Angela grows, as does Terry's hatred of Graeme. Derek has a chat with Father Thornton, but is left none the wiser. Jackie and Julia confront Mike about the stolen money. Sinbad checks his birth certificate for endorsements.

Terry is in court on the first day of Graeme's trial. Barry's hot date has an unexpected outcome. Mike takes a keen interest in medals. Max is annoyed when Susannah introduces herself to the new neighbours.

Terry loses his temper in court. Sinbad wonders to whom his mother could have been devoted. Margaret is surprised to find Susannah helping Max out around the house.

Terry and Fran are questioned by the defence counsel. Derek has some bad news for Margaret. Patricia comes home.

Patricia discovers that some things have been moved around in her absence. In a fight between Ron and Mike, John manages to come off worst. The trial nears its conclusion.

John has a few problems at Burns Night down at the Legion, where Julia embarrasses Ron after having too much to drink. Patricia invites Susannah over to thank her for her help and to tell her that they no longer need it.

Marcia pays another visit to the woman believed to be Sinbad's sister, and this time she has a different story to tell. DD is concerned about Mike, even if Ron isn't. Lindsey has some news for Jimmy and Jackie.

Fran is so annoyed that Barry is going out with Angela that she tells Terry his secret. Patricia decides to make a will, and tries to persuade Max to do the same. Ron apologises to Julia, and Katie has a new friend who may lead her into trouble.

Patricia is determined to get on with her life without the presence of Susannah, but Max's ex-wife has her own ideas. Terry and Barry have a confrontation over Fran, and the situation turns ugly.

Sinbad is excited about finding his mother. Barry pushes Fran into a corner. Just as Jimmy is about to move back in with Jackie, Little Jimmy turns up with an ultimatum.

Fran has only one choice left. Sinbad is hopeful, but may be too optimistic. Jackie thinks Jimmy is trying to back out of moving back in with her.

Leanne arranges a party at Katie's while Frank is away for the weekend, but Barbara puts a stop to it. Marcia thinks she has been told the truth about Ruth and Sinbad at last. Max and Patricia face an emotional situation together.

Katie is worried that Frank will find out what happened while he was away for the weekend. Terry considers opening a pizza parlour, but Jimmy's hopes of getting back with Jackie are fading.

Jackie has had enough, and won't take any more nonsense. Mick resents the Christies' interference. Owen has to do some covering up for Katie and Leanne. The Harrisons are visited by a distraught businessman.

Marcia and Sinbad are in for a double shock. Frank is annoyed to find out that Katie, Owen and Katie's deputy headmistress have all lied to him. John discovers too late who he has let into his house, and that living next door to a policeman isn't going to help him with his latest problem.

Sinbad tracks Ruth down at the library where she works, and invites her to his wedding. Although they are able to retrieve their furniture, Barbara is not convinced that the Harrisons' problems are over. Ellis regrets making a snide comment. Katie tells Leanne she is leaving home.

Terry receives a letter that was written by Graeme before his death. John tries to win a motorbike. Eliis is suspicious of Ben and Rachel.

John and Barbara are ready to leave for Spain, but there is a last-minute hitch. Owen is made redundant, and has some explaining to do. Mick loses something very important. Men are queueing up to take Jackie Corkhill to the Revival Night.

The Harrisons' two-and-a-half hour holiday causes gossip. Jimmy moves back in with Jackie, and Little Jimmy says he's moving out. Mick goes to Wales in search of his lost property. Owen makes vegetable moussaka for his parents, and asks Frank to lie to them.

Peter Harrison somes home, with loads of money. Jackie thinks Jimmy should use his initiative to earn them some extra money on the side. Frank and Joan disagree about Owen's future plans.

Mick hopes that everything is now sorted out with Leo and Gemma's grandparents. Jackie can't believe her eyes when Jimmy turns up in a limousine. But which Mr and Mrs Corkhill will end up in the bridal suite?

Jimmy and Jackie are intent on getting their revenge on Sinbad. Mick warns Ellis not to use the taxi. Sammy and Owen argue over where they should live and whether he ought to go back to college. Peter wonders if he has been conned, and whether he can help his parents.

Julia discovers Jimmy's scam involving the Moby, and Rod's secret. Sammy turns to her father for some impartial advice. The Harrisons win a competition prize which is no use to them at the moment.

Jimmy and Jackie are pleased with their success on the Moby, but then they have a crash. John's brother turns up, just after Peter and John have withdrawn all his money from his bank account. Katie tries to warn Leanne off Owen.

Having heard nothing from Derek, Margaret wonders whether he has contacted DD. Jimmy urgently needs Ron's MOT and insurance documents, and his driving licence. Patricia goes back to work, and Frank sits down for a man-to-man chat with Owen.

Mick has a much better day than John and Hugh. Leanne becomes tearful when Owen tells her to leave. Margaret's mother turns up unexpectedly at the Farnhams', who need to decide whether to tell her what she wants to know.

Derek returns to the Close. Leanne has some shocking news for everyone. John has to decide whether to turn his brother in.

Barbara catches a thief. Rod is apprehensive about his first day back at work. Ron meets Jacqui's boyfriend, and tells her to be home by 9.30. Leanne admits that she has been lying, but Owen walks out on Sammy.

Ron is surprised when he bumps into Derek, but less so when he finds out who Derek is visiting. It looks as if Owen has got a job, if he can be found.

Frank cancels his night out, as he has more important things to do at home. Barry has a difficult decision to make about Angela and her daughters. Mrs Clemence returns to confront the Farnhams about Margaret and Derek. John and Rod try to track down the source of the damp.

Mrs Clemence joins forces with DD to wreck Margaret's affair with Derek. Barry has reservations about some potential tenants, but changes his mind when he sees the colour of their money.

Mick and Frank go for a night out at a singles bar. Barry's new tenants make it clear that they want privacy, but his curiosity finally gets the better of him.

John tries to set up a neighbourhood watch scheme, and while everyone is discussing it at a meeting, Rod's car is broken into and Julia is mugged. There is chaos at the pizza parlour as its opening day arrives.

Rod and Diana fear that Julia wants to move into the extension permanently after her mugging. Terry promotes Owen to manager. Max practises his Round Table speech at home, with Patricia and Margaret as his audience.

Derek and Margaret make the most of a real chance of some privacy. Jacqui gets permission from DD to go out on Friday night. Julia convinces Tommo to let her move into the extension at number ten.

Romance is in the air for Frank, Barry is on a mission, and the local primary school is burned down, with Jacqui trapped inside.

Katie is invited to stay over at a friend's house, which fits in well with Frank's plans. Angela finds out that Colin has remortgaged their home. The Harrisons have a bug problem.

The whole Close try to get to the bottom of the mystery of why the school burned down, and Jacqui certainly isn't saying anything.

Frank's romantic evening doesn't quite go according to plan. Rod believes that the Harrisons' cockroaches may have their uses. Barry and Sinbad are still wondering what is hidden in the Hamouds' room, and Barry plans to find out.

Ron corners Darren, then comes face to face with Darren's father. John tries to revive interest in the neighbourhood watch. Frank is feeling insecure.

Big trouble lands on Ron's doorstep. John and Barbara argue. Colin plans a surprise for Angela, but is he too late?

The joyriders cause expense for Frank. Margaret is worried about her relationship with Derek. Angela resents Barry's interference.

There is trouble for Owen and Matty at the pizza parlour. The vigilante group see their first piece of action.

It's Max's turn to be on patrol duty, but he has a function to attend and leaves the Close unguarded. A mystery woman calls at the Corkhills', and Barry is pleased to see her. Frank and Denise share an intimate moment at last.

Ron is furious that his shop window has been smashed, and promptly fires Max, who is secretly relieved. Barry's name is mud again.

Tony is Darren's next victim, and when Jacqui finds out, it puts her in an even more difficult position. Derek visits Margaret, but things go wrong. Katie has an ultimatum for Frank.

Fran is back, with some unexpected news for Barry. Jacqui finally decides to tell the truth.

Margaret fears that she has frightened Derek away. Max only wants to buy sausages, but ends up being barred from the Trading Post. Mick seeks opinions on the school closure, but will anyone be interested?

Nawaz knows about Barry's scam, and decides that if he can't punish Barry himself, a friend will do. Patricia wants some straight answers from Max. Derek makes a decision.

Barry goes on the run, taking Fran with him. Sammy goes on a spending spree, Patricia tries to help Diana, and Max finds a bishop in his front room.

Matty is Barry's last hope, while Mick is canvassing for the primary school.

Rod has a lovely birthday. Matty encourages Barry to tell the truth.

In a special episode set on a deserted beach, Barry and Terry reflect on ten years of life on the Close. When they reach the sombre events of recent months, one of them decides to pull the trigger of a gun.

When the Harrisons awaken to find a haggard-looking Terry in their back garden, holding a shotgun and wearing a blood-stained shirt, they quickly realise that he is not delivering a pizza.

Jimmy overhears Sinbad's thoughts on what has happened to Barry, and aims to turn events to his own advantage.

The police continue taking statements, but Terry's silence could lead to him ending up behind bars. Despite all efforts, Owen can't be found, and Sammy has to give birth without him.

Fran decides that she needs to confide in Matty. At the meeting to discuss the future of the school, Mick is in for a big shock.

There are red faces all around when Max interrupts a moment of passion between Margaret and Derek. Fran intervenes in plans to present new evidence to the police.

Frank keeps a lonely vigil at his granddaughter's side. Ellis urges Marcia to tell Sinbad the truth.

As things are looking grim for Terry, there is the unexpected arrival at the police station of someone who was on the beach at the time of the shooting incident.

Fran and Matty want an explanation. Margaret upsets DD by going to church.

Marcia tells Sinbad her secret, and Ellis has disappointing news for Mick. Sammy comes home without her baby, and Mike receives an ultimatum from Ron.

Mick tries to win his boss around, but he demands the return of the keys. Sinbad and Marcia wonder if they still have a future.

Mick's name appears in the press linked with a dusky beauty, then the dusky beauty pays him a visit. Ellis can't believe that his brother wants nothing more to do with him, and comes up with a scheme to change Mick's mind.

Ellis tries to interest Mick in a business opportunity. DD grudgingly wishes Derek and Margaret a good time, but their happiness is short-lived.

Margaret wants Derek to prove to her that he is able to live a new life. A visit from the educational welfare officer affects Mick's plans for Leo and Gemma's schooling.

Patricia's evening doesn't go as planned. Marianne offers to do something else for Mick. At the chapel of rest, Frank meets a relative of Nick.

Things are not looking good for Marcia and Sinbad, or for Margaret and Derek. Sammy is finding it difficult to cope with Louise. Ron discovers a horse eating his flowers.

Ron is struggling after DD's departure, while Margaret's disappearance with Derek leaves the Farnhams in the lurch. Rod tells Julia a secret, but will she be able to keep it?

Mick plans Gemma's birthday party, and Ellis tries to use this to mend some bridges. Sammy takes advantage of Julia's adoration of her baby. Jimmy offers to help John find a sexy nightie for Barbara, but he may not need it.......

Advertising a delivery service doesn't seem to have helped to improve business at the pizza parlour. Rod and Diana have big plans. The Farnhams have trouble with their new nanny.

Frank and Owen are out for the night, leaving Sammy alone with the baby, and things become too much for her. DD returns, but Anna gives her further cause for concern about Derek and Margaret.

Owen is determined to protect Louise from Sammy, even if it means divorcing her. Terry wants his keys back. Ron, furious that Max's firm are his landlords, insists that Max confronts Jimmy.

An unexpected guest makes life difficult for Sinbad. Ron is trying to sell tickets. Margaret fears that Anna will be kept on as the Farnhams' nanny. Ellis asks for two more hours, but can he achieve anything in them?

Sinbad realises that there is no point in trying again with Marcia. Frank fails to convince his boss to compensate Nick's family for his death. Mick is not impressed when Terry decides to go on a spending spree.

John is seen thieving from Ron's shop. Rod and Diana don't like what they find when they return from their honeymoon.

Jimmy discovers that his electricity and water have been cut off, while most of the residents are preparing for their day trip to Alton Towers.

Thomas is lost and found, Sinbad is reunited with Marcia, and Frank has to convince Sammy not to commit suicide, in a special episode at Alton Towers.

Margaret tells Patricia she has found another job and is leaving. Ron tells Peter of his suspicions about John, but he may have left it too late.

Ron decides to become a squatter. Frank tries to persuade Owen not to divorce Sammy.

Ron discovers that being a squatter might create more problems than it resolves. Rod and Diana go to Peter's to watch a film, and when Rod falls asleep Diana betrays a confidence.

Peter advises John to tell Barbara about his arrest. Patricia makes a decision. At the end of the day, when the shops are all cashing up, a gang of men who have been lying in wait make their move.

Terry feels guilty for being drunk while the shops were raided. Jackie wants Ron to install a panic button, but he explains that this would cost money.

Mike and Keith set off for Edinburgh, unaware that Ron plans to follow them. Lyn makes Frank suffer before she agrees to go camping. Angela reopens the salon, but is far from happy. John learns whether he will be charged with shoplifting.

Diana is offered a job on the make-up counter, but it may mean moving to Manchester. Jacqui gets into some trouble in Scotland. John blows his top at Sinbad.

The campers return home, and Rod's career hangs in the balance. Tracy and Peter have a date, and end up in the spotlight. Julia interprets Jackie's instructions slightly differently than expected.

Jacqui tells Ron and DD that she is not going back to school, and already has a job lined up. Ron discovers that his shop is flooded. Patricia has a secret.

Ron discovers the source of the flood. Margaret and Derek plan their engagement. Ron resigns from the police force. After seeing her doctor, Patricia reveals to Max that she is pregnant.

Frank confronts Barbara about Katie's stolen coat. Rod studies his bad eye, and becomes distressed. Mick discovers that Ellis has misled him about the loan.

Margaret's mother says she won't come to the engagement party because she thinks Margaret is too young to get married. Tracy gets an offer she can't refuse. Ellis plans a date with Marianne, but has to deliver pizzas instead.

Everything comes to a head for a distraught John. Marianne has a date, but is it with the right brother? Patricia's parents are coming to visit, and she has sold their Welsh dresser.......

Julia is shocked to see a "For Sale" sign outside the Corkhills', and Rod has some explaining to do. Barbara is getting worried about John's disappearance. Max and Patricia try to convince Patricia's parents that they like the Welsh dresser.

Strange stickers reading "Strength Through Purity" appear on the window of the pizza parlour. Rod and Terry are rivals for a job. Max entrusts the repair of the dresser to David, who dyes it dark green.

Margaret isn't in the mood for her engagement party, but her mother convinces DD to come along and give Derek her blessing. Mike and Matty receive a sinister threat.

George Webb's unpleasantness means more headaches for Mick. Ron opposes the new nightclub development.

Patricia agrees to be a speaker at Max's Round Table meeting, and makes sure that Ron comes up with a cunning plan. Barbara suggests that Peter gives Diana a lift to work, and Diana discovers that Rod turned down a desk job in the police.

Rod returns to try to make things up with Diana, but it doesn't go well. Max serves Terry with a notice to quit. Patricia is determined not to lose the baby.

The pizza parlour is under threat, while Terry has no intentions of moving out of his flat. Barbara confesses to Peter that she fears she has lost John forever. Marianne takes Ellis and Mick van-hunting.

Max is surprised when he meets the new nightclub owner, Joe Halsall. Diana confesses a lie to Peter. Derek needs to find somewhere to live.

In the middle of making a speech to Max's Round Table, Patricia collapses in agony. Terry discovers he is going on a journey, but with whom?

Mick has an interview at the building society regarding his failure to pay the mortgage. Ellis finds something unpleasant in a milk bottle. Terry and Sinbad begin their holiday in Spain, but there may be a surprise in store for them.

Brian and Tracy have a romantic evening with a twist. Max plans to take Patricia on a holiday to Spain. Anna is asking questions about Peter.

Julia wonders why Tracy's bed hasn't been slept in. Patricia asks about the missing teddy, Frank meets Lyn's children, and another member of her family.......

Terry returns home and tells Derek he can stay on in the flat. Tommo reappears, with a message for Diana from Rod. Mick is concerned about his children, and needs to decide whether to report the attempted arson attack to the police.

Mike makes a film in which everyone is taking part. Peter gives Anna a lift to Manchester. Ellis and Marianne have some news for Mick. Sammy tries to convince Katie to have tea with Lyn's children.

Mrs Shackleton returns to discuss a few things with Diana. Tracy makes Julia tell Brian what she has been saying about him. Barry takes steps to wreck Jimmy's business.

Marianne takes Ellis shopping. Jimmy confronts George. Max returns early from his holiday and allows Anna's party to go ahead, with potentially far-reaching consequences.

Anna has some big plans, but Jimmy can only survey the wreckage of his shop. Barbara has a surprise visitor.

It is the last day of Peter's course, but he has other things on his mind. Jacqui gets a job at the petrol station. Diana confides in Julia.

Tracy calls Rod, but he won't come home. Jimmy is at a loose end, and Jackie considers buying Ron's Moby for him. Jacqui receives a letter from Paul.

Diana is examined by a police doctor. Ron tries to drum up support for an objection to the liquor licence, and to tell a joke about a fish, but doesn't have much success with either endeavour.

George follows Mick home to find out where he lives. Ron finishes off his joke, but no-one finds it amusing. Terry insists that Barry gives Derek rent-free use of the vacant shop until Christmas. Peter is interviewed by the police.

The rape investigation continues, and Patricia becomes involved. Paul comes to see Jacqui, but she wonders what she ever saw in him.

Ron becomes the new compere at the Legion. Peter worries about what Max will tell the police. Mick is visited by officials from the immigration department.

Mick comes home after being interrogated, and wonder who was responsible. George takes Ron to his local and introduces him to his "mates".

Ellis finds out what happened to Mick, and tries to teach George a lesson. Patricia tries to reassure Diana. Derek opens a charity shop, but Ron brings him some bad news.

DD interrupts Leanne and Paul at an extremely awkward moment. Diana considers whether she could go to court. Marianne is not sure that she can put up with Ellis's violence.

Jacqui thinks about changing her name again, while Katie has to do some quick clothes-changing. On his way home after his big night, Ron discovers George attempting to burn down Mick's bungalow.

Peter discovers that he has an ally against Diana. Barry has an ulterior motive in offering to help Karyn with her charity work, and Max unwittingly helps him.

Ron visits Jackie late at night, Barbara is worried that Peter will run away from his troubled, and Barry is being enigmatic.

Patricia encourages Diana to go to counselling, and press ahead with the rape allegation. Ron joins Mick and Ellis in an attempt to force George to see the error of his ways.

Julia starts to clear the Corkhills' house, and enlists Max's help. George discovers that Ellis has redecorated his windows.

Mick and Ellis need to talk to the police, but want to convince Ron to go with them. Tommo comes round to Diana's to collect some of Rod's belongings. George is forced to leave the garage, but not without making a final threat.

Tommo helps Diana move out of number ten. Terry asks Barry for money, but won't reveal why he needs it.

Diana is shocked to discover that someone has returned to number ten, then has an argument with Tracy and decides not to move in with Julia after all.

Barry assigns Jimmy the task of trailing Terry to find out what he is up to. Patricia finds herself invaded by the Corkhills. Ellis and Marianne seek Mick's blessing for a Valentine's Day wedding.

Jackie and Ron take their relationship one stage further. Peter appears in court. Barry wrecks Jimmy's plans. Katie and Leanne try to discover whether Christmas is becoming more commercialised, but Leanne has something more pressing on her mind.

Ellis lines up a special night for Mick. Diana visits her barrister to prepare for her court case. Ron's efforts to get closer to Jackie are frustrated.

Mick's night out goes painfully wrong. Patricia discovers that all her guests have apparently had a sex change. Leanne takes a pregnancy test. Ron invites Jackie for a weekend away.

The rape trial begins. Barry warns Terry that he can't keep his secret for long. It is the day of Patricia's fashion show.

As the trial continues, Max gives his evidence. Ron asks Jimmy to encourage Jackie to come back to work for him. Leanne takes more and more pregnancy tests in the hope of getting the result she wants, and DD finds them under Jacqui's bed.

DD confronts Jacqui about pregnancy tests. Max suggests that Diana should go home to her father's. After Anna gives her evidence in court, Patricia gives her an ultimatum.

Terry convinces Fran to join him for Christmas dinner. DD is in a dilemma about what to do when Jacqui misleads her about Katie. Joe gives Barry a stern talking-to. Peter gives his evidence.

John has some advice for Peter, but he might not want to take it. Diana needs to find somewhere else to stay, and Max gives a helping hand. DD confides in Lyn about her suspicions regarding Katie.

Christmas Eve brings an unexpected visitor for the Farnhams. Margaret has an unusual present for Derek, and Frank discovers that all the wheels of his car have disappeared.

On Christmas Day, Frank gets his wheels back, Max has an extravagant present for Patricia, Peter tries to convince Diana to change her mind, and Jimmy has to decide who should be allowed into the nightclub, and who shouldn't, on its opening night.

Barry gives Fran and Terry something to worry about. Peter receives an unexpected Christmas card. Ron tries to persuade people to come to the Legion on New Year's Eve.

On New Year's Eve, Patricia is furious with Anna, Terry prevents Barry from talking to Fran, Joe gets a free hairdo, Leanne tries to lose her baby by drinking a full bottle of gin, and Peter refuses to leave the Close with John and Barbara.
